Offer of additional guidance
The Danish Working Environment Authority (WEA) can offer up to 2 hours of additional guidance after an inspection where your company received either an improvement notice with time limit or an immediate improvement notice about one or more health and safety problems. The dialogue can also be about topics other than the improvement notice.
It may be a good idea to accept this offer if...
- You want guidance from the WEA and examples of how other companies have solved similar health and safety problems.
- You want guidance on health and safety problems other than those you have received an improvement notice for.
- You want to discuss how to avoid situations that lead to improvement notices.
- You want help with the process and dialogue between employees and company management on solutions and health and safety work going forward.

Guidance on rules and solutions
The Danish Working Environment Authority can offer guidance on rules and help you make your own assessments of possible solutions. However, we cannot advise you as to whether you should use a specific solution for your health and safety problems, nor are we able to pre-approve solutions.
If you need help choosing a specific solution, you can enter into an agreement with an authorised health and safety consultant.
Practical information
If you receive an offer of additional guidance, you have 20 days to accept the offer. You can do this via the link in the letter from the WEA’s self-service solution.
Once you accept the offer, you should consider what you want to discuss with the inspector and outline the topics for your conversation. Furthermore, you need to make sure that the relevant managers and health & safety representatives and/or employees are present during the conversation.
Please note that you need to have solved the health and safety problem you were sent an improvement notice for before the stated deadline. The deadline may be before the guidance meeting is held.
An offer for selected companies
At present, only selected companies will receive an offer of additional guidance, as we are conducting a trial scheme from 2020-2023 where companies are randomly selected to receive a guidance offer. This will determine if you are offered guidance and whether you are offered a visit or a telephone conversation with an inspector. Whenever possible, we will use the same inspector who carried out your inspection.
From 1 June 2022, it will be possible to have virtual meetings instead of telephone conversations. You can find out more information about this in the letter you receive if you accept the offer from the WEA.
Companies that do not receive an offer of additional guidance can always contact the WEA’s Call Center and receive advice. This also applies to companies that have questions about the offer.
