New Research Projects

In 2004 AMID researchers received funds for the following two projects:

• Migration - Marriage - Research on Transnational Marriages (project launched April 1, 2005)
• Irregular Migration and Global Control Regimes - including the implications for Denmark (project launch: October 2005)
  

On the background of the thematic framework the Academy will give priority to the following five research areas (each area containing empirical as well as theoretical dimensions, and perspectives informed by host societies as well as migrant actions and perceptions). AMID research projects are listed under the research areas. Some projects are listed under more than one area:

Area 1
Causes, forms of organization, and consequences of mobility and migration in the context of globalization and Europeanization, and international migration regimes.

• Multicultural Europe--an Analysis of the European Vision of "Multiculturalism" and its Relation to Member-state Perceptions of Immigrant Cultures

Area 2
The reception of immigrants, the politics of integration and acculturation, conditions for citizenship, and political participation.
